The polyester started singing: I AM HERMES: WARM LIKE FIRE. I AM AN EVERLASTING SPARK: I AM ALONE IN THE DARK. FOREVER YOUNG: FOREVER LOOP JUMPING THROUGH THE HOOPS. And you said: GO GO DANCER: I AM TOO A FREELANCER: DANCING TO THE RHYTHM OF MY HEART: START UPS MIGHT TEAR US APART.

In spring 2018 Annsofidotter was invited to present a work at 24h show curated by pro.temp at Gallery Nicolai Wallner. The exhibition showed the works in motion, creating a performative viewing of the art, in an attempt to address the increasing exposure of artists as individuals and their identity in relation to their work.
For the show Annsofidotter hired a group of teenage basketball players to show her work. Extracting labor from the young and energetic girls, used to performing in an competitive environment, the team was instructed to show the work in a choreography inspired by sports while chewing chewing gum and having an attitude of not being bothered about the audience.
On view was a series of blankets. As a symbol of warmth and comfort, the blankets are made to shape the habitus of a home and its homeowner. Using sampled fragments and layers of meaning, imagery was derived from a theme of performativity, and the blankets printed using ’on demand’ service.
One of the blankets depicts an instagrammer’s ice cream. While photographing it to the back drop of a sunset on the beach, a seagull takes the opportunity to eat the ice cream. Tagged with ”This is me on the run” the blanket poses the question whether you are the person holding the ice cream trying to create an image while being hijacked by the seagull or if you are in fact the seagull pestering the ice cream.
With a big smiley covering a printed duvet, in addition to the title ”with a smiley on my face I am ready”, the second blanket addresses the performative interaction and demand for workers to be polite and service minded, regardless of their working conditions.
The third blanket depicts a Hermes scarf and the phrase: This is me as hermes:. A take on the artist trying to be a trickster, while becoming just another fashionable commodity.
